" "In a bright spot for the administration, most Americans appeared to have heard enough about Vice President Dick Cheney's hunting accident." - From another thread

The poll is right - and as I've posted again and again, it is a losing issue, particularly when the person who was shot has no quarrel with the vice-president. We need to develop some Karl Rove like antenna here.

On the other hand, the VP has to answer for Plame, or more precisely, the exposing of a counterproliferation operation at a time when the acquisition of WMD by terrorists is the number one security threat.

NoBuddy, look at it this way. CBS's poll tells us that people "appeared to have heard...about" Dead-eye Dick's mishap. Never mind the word "enough," because of course it's enough--everyone learned, it's securely in the past and no therefore it's not being reported any more. It all just says the nedia did its job: people learned. Thus Dick's reputation took the hit it deserved. Looks like DPW's doing the same to George, but peopel have not heard "enough" because it's still going on. Get it?

"Looks like DPW's doing the same to George, but peopel have not heard "enough" because it's still going on. Get it?"

I have no idea what "DPW" is, I'm just commenting on the clip by John Gibson. Gibson is trying to lump in all the issues that the left raises with this administration with the issues raised with the shooting. What I "get" is that the "left's" issue with the shooting is nothing more than sour grapes, and therefore by implication, all the arguments against this administration can be dismissed as sour grapes. The argument sells. So, the only reason C&L ought to be posting this is if they're trying to help Cheney, especially in light of the real news which is that Libby has testified that his superiors authorized the Plame leak. You have to know when to hold and when to fold. It has long since been time to fold on the shooting matter (only to resurrect it if the lawyer dies), and stick to the Plame matter, and above all, the fact that we're in Iraq is because the president lied, LIED, LIED.

The administration exposed Plame to impugn Joe Wilson's motives, rather than deal with the allegations that the President misrepresented the uranium claims. They'll use the complaining about the shooting to impugn our motives about the more serious issues we have complaints about. Remember, they have the shooting victim on their side.

I'm a bit bored with the story about the shooting. I replayed the Daily Show's special on it about 10 times since it was so damn funny but the constant rehashing of it got boring.

The only things I'd like to know about it is
- Was he drunk when he shot him and tried to hide it?
- Did the secret service pressure the sheriff's department into dropping the case?
- Is the lady who reported the incident on the payroll of the Vice Pres's PR department since they are so inept at doing the job?

As some guy said, that was only the 3rd worst thing to happen to Dick Cheney that week. Being fingered as the 'authority' for blowing Valerie Plame's identity and .... some other thing was much more important.

I am an independent, because I have never felt that politicians really care for us. I do believe that it is time to amend a few part of the constitution.

1) Let’s go for the majority votes wins
2) No more extravagated primaries wasted money!
3) Limited the election to 6 months
4) Limits on both Senate and congressional turns to 2 terms
5) Limits the Supreme Court tenures to 10 years
6) Any laws enact by our politicians should be by 75 percent, and cannot be change.

Let’s really think about forcing a big change.
If we do not, we will become robots because this repuks party are becoming knows as the most corrupts party! And they are in control thanks by corruption by Diebolds we did put a monkey in office, or did we?????????????????????/

shooting victim on their side or not, there's plenty of proof they lied abouit the circumstances of the shooting.

No way he was more than 30 feet away. probably 20'. No way it was 90 yards. You can't pierce a t-shirt with 7.5 shot from a 28 gauge at 90', much less penetrate to the heart. Go try it!

Plus, via the official report and Cheney's account on Fox, Cheney admits to following a quail in a counter-clockwise circle, tracking it past Willeford 270 degrees until he shot Whittington. Here's a photo from a graphic re-enactment accompanying Newsweek's article The Shot Heard Round the World based on the official incident report showing what Cheney says happened.
That's a clear admission to reckless endangerment under Texas law.

The Cheney thing should not be allowed to just die.
sans-culotte | Homepage | 02.28.06 - 2:13 am | #

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plus, by that account, How did Whittington get shot on his right side of his face and not on his left if he just walked up on Cheney's right? If he was to Cheney's right, he would have gotten shot on his left side.

The photo shows whittington in a dry lake bed which was pinpointed by gps coordinates in the official incident report, which is what they said happened, where they said it happened.

Aerosmith, sung to Janie's Got a Gun:

Cheney's Got a Gun,
Cheney's Got a Gun,
Poor Harry better Run,
'Cause Cheney's Got a Gun.....

Anyway, I went around today singing this short version of Cheney's Got a Gun at about four or five places...and the people listening cracked up laughing.

I prefaced what I was about to do by asking them if they knew Aerosmith and Steven Tyler. An oriental lady who runs a fast food market at which I shop said that she attended an Aerosmith concert in San Antonio. Perfect.

So, I said, I had a new version of one of Aerosmith's hits with lyrics about a recent shooting incident down in south Texas.

Then, I struck a pose (minus a guitar), made a strumming motion and started singing in my most gravelly Steven Tyler voice (real, real bad, BTW):

Cheney's Got a Gun,
Cheney's Got a Gun,
(change of voice inflection, softer and pointing a finger off to the right)
Poor Harry better Run,
(Back to gravelly voice, and strumming position)
'Cause Cheney's Got a Gun.

(Actually, come to think of it, I probably sounded more like Cheech Marin singing)

Anyway, by the time I finished the last line, and finished strumming my imaginary guitar, the person listening had burst out laughing. And not just little laughter, but huge, belly laughter.

Mission Accomplished.

To keep the public aware that Dick Cheney shot someone in the face with a shotgun. BTW, Dick Cheney's name is mud among REAL all-American hunters.

Why?

Because he violated most, if not all, of the rules of hunting.

1) He didn't check to make sure the shotgun he was carrying had it's safety on.
2) He, based on the bogus cover story, spun 180 degrees and fired behind him, with his shotgun level to the ground.
3) He tried to shift blame for the shooting onto the person he shot, instead of accepting full responsibility himself. Hey, he was holding the shotgun. He pulled the trigger. He shot and almost killed someone.

So what did happen?

First, the hunting party that stayed behind at the ranch while Harry Whittington was taken by ambulance to one hospital, then Air Medi-vacced to another hospital, didn't know if the 78-year-old Whittington was going to live or die.

It must have been a long night back at the ranch. Had Cheney just killed a man, or would Harry Whittington pull through. Harry Whittington had been severely injured. Think about it. A person "peppered" with birdshot, and with some slight "bruising," as initially claimed, would not have required emergency evacuation to a hospital, nor ended up in ICU. So, the anxious Republicans waited back at the ranch, and checked on Whittington's ICU progress through the night.

Second, they didn't report the incident to the news media until the next day. Why? Because they weren't sure if Whittington would pull through. However, by the next morning, Whittington's chances of living had improved. Someone from the hunting party talked to him after he regained consciousness in the ICU the next morning and doublechecked to see how pissed Whittington was about being shot in the face...plus, they went over the "cover story" that someone had concocted over the previous night. Everything fine. Let the cover-up begin. With Whittington taking the fall after having been accidentally shot by Cheney.

But Whittington almost died again that Tuesday. Cheney finally, reluctantly, admitted that he might just have been partially responsible, although no one is certain, really, that he shot someone in the face and almost killed them.

So, what did happen out in that south Texas field?

I listed the first rule of gun safety for a reason. The person holding a firearm is solely responsible for checking that their gun's safety is on. The gun's safety is only disengaged shortly before firing, and then immediately re-engaged...for the safety of the person holding the gun...and anyone standing nearby.

Which is what I believe happened out in that field. One possibility is that Dick Cheney, as the hunters were preparing to walk out into the field, forgot to check his shotgun's safety. BLAM!! The shotgun went off, and hit Harry Whittington standing to Cheney's left (remember, it was Harry Whittington's right side that got blasted). Another possibility is that Cheney while starting out across the field to the covey line, once again, either forgot to check his shotgun's safety...or possibly prematurely disengaged his gun's safety, and...BLAM...Harry Whittington was shot, and fell to the ground, stunned, in pain, and "severely bleeding" (as one British newspaper reported).

Anyway,

Cheney's Got a Gun,
Cheney's Got a Gun,
Poor Harry better Run,
"Cause Dead-eye Cheney's Got a Gun!!!!

In the race to get ahead economically, America's young workers are falling behind.

A new survey shows that median incomes fell for householders under 45, even as they rose for older ones, between 2001 and 2004.

Income fell 8 percent, adjusted for inflation, for those under 35 and 9 percent for those aged 35 to 44. The numbers add new weight to longstanding concerns about whether younger generations of Americans will achieve living standards that are better - or at least equal to - those of their

- Did the secret service pressure the sheriff's department into dropping the case?

***
They didn't even have to. The County sheriff's dept is owned by the operators of the 3 or 4 ranches in the county, the Armstrong, Kenedy and King. They are basically a private security force. There are only about 450 people in the whole county and 90% Mexican Americans who work on those ranches. That sheriff does exactly what Ms. Armstrong tells him to do. -JW

- Is the lady who reported the incident on the payroll of the Vice Pres's PR department since they are so inept at doing the job?

The lady who reported the incident is the owner (along with her mother and sister) of a 50,000 acre ranch covered with Halliburton oil wells. Her mother, the former ambassador to the Brits was on the board of directors at Halliburton and helped hire Cheney for the CEO job there. That Armstrong lady is also a paid lobbyist for the Koreans. She is probably worth *more* than Cheney is. If anything, Cheney is on *her* payroll. -JW

The Port Deal Must Be Stopped.

In Bush's own words..."MY GOVERNMENT" has examined this and there are no security concerns.

Last evening in a closed and confidential session, that statement was proven to be a lie.

ANY TIME a government controlled foreign enterprise seeks to acquire any assets which COULD have an adverse effect on US SECURITY, the LAW states that in the event ANY concern is raised with respect to national security - IT AUTOMATICALLY TRIGGERS A FULL 45 DAY INVESTIGATION BY CONGRESS.

When the Coast Guard raised a security concern, the conditions were met to trigger an investigation - period.

The law does not allow for the concerns to be overcome in smoke-filled secret meetings. The law requires instant transparency and sunlight. PERIOD

That is the law.

When Bush claims he learned of this deal after it was approved, he is lying.

Rumsfeld knew and Snow knew too.

When they claim not to have known, they are lying. Period.

Once they did claim to know of the deal, their first obligation SHOULD have been to ensure that the process followed the law. Clearly the process violated the law. They know the process violated the law. They have come down on the side of violating the law and are actively promoting an illegal process.

In law, treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's nation or state. A person who betrays the nation of their citizenship and/or reneges on an oath of loyalty and in some way willfully cooperates with an enemy, is considered to be a traitor.

This is just one more example of the Treason of this administration.

What is Israel's role in this? Why the secret missions to Dubai in the months preceding the deal?

The American People have EVERY RIGHT TO KNOW.

Chertoff has contracted with a unit of Cheney's Haliburton to build detention camps in the United States

The language used in the Detention Camp matter is intentionally vague. The Rovian Headline leads the reader to believe that the entire matter is about detaining illegal aliens. Any good lawyer would tell you that the language used intentionally leaves open the possibility that these camps can be used for ANY PURPOSE DEEMED APPROPRIATED BY ZIONIST AGENT MICHAEL CHERTOFF.

Roves most recent strategy is to use the words PROTEST and DANGER in the same headline. The implication is that our national security will somehow be harmed if we protest. Senator Warner went so far as to articulate precisely that in his interview this past Sunday on Meet The Press. "If we prevent this DPW deal from going forward, the UAE will block us from using their ports to support our troops in the war on terror."

SAYS WHO?

A US Senator is blackmailing the American Public into doing a deal with a foreign government, with the threat of terror as the device?

We might all be bored of the Dick the Gunner and his shooting problems story BUT trust me on this, Bush's base is not bored with it-- they do not want to hear about it anymore-- I know they tell me everyday. And if they don't want to hear about it, that means it is getting to them.

They can't dodge the fact that the Vice-President of the United State got away with shooting someone without so much as a "howdy-do" from the cops. All of which underscores the Left's position that the GOP is all about power and money and that morals, especially right and wrong, are of no interest to this crowd.

Remember these are the same people who keep bring up Ted and Mary Jo from so many years ago.

The story troubles them. Don't let them ignore it.

Judicial Watch sues DoD for Videos of Attack on Pentagon

Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against the Department of Defense for withholding a video(s) that allegedly shows United Flight 77 striking the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. The Pentagon claims it cannot release the video because it is "part of an ongoing investigation involving Zacarias Moussaoui," but this is a specious argument. Moussaoui already pled guilty in April 2005 for conspiring with al Qaida to fly planes into U.S. buildings.

[snip] The death penalty phase of his trial is underway with jury selection nearly complete. What's left to investigate? Moreover, while the Freedom of Information Act does allow an exemption for ongoing law enforcement investigations, the Defense Department does not even have law enforcement authority over Moussaoui. That belongs to the Department of Justice or the FBI. One reason we're seeking the information to help put to rest conspiracy theories that a government drone or missile hit the Pentagon rather than the hijacked United airplane. Stay tuned.

It seems like the FOIA requests by flight77.info which have been consistently been rejected are starting to get noticed. Judicial Watch is requesting the videos which recorded Flight 77 hitting the Pentagon to be released to 'put to rest conspiracy theories..'.

Be sure to contact Judicial Watch and thank them for trying to fight for the release of what should undoubtedly be public record. Perhaps if you decide to contact them you can ask that they look into a few other 9/11 related issues, feel free to post some suggestions in the comments

According to a soon to be released book written by Bill Sammon, Senior White House Correspondent for the Washington Examiner, Bush attributes his 2004 victory over John Kerry in part to a Osama bin Laden videotape released on the eve of the election.

“I thought it was going to help,” Bush decided. “I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn’t want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush.”

Former CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite went public to call the tape a set up orchestrated by Karl Rove.

Can there again be any doubt whatsoever that White House terror alerts and Al-Qaeda videotapes are 100% artificially manufactured and released at the most politically expedient times?

Last week, the Associated Press thrust a month old bin Laden tape back onto the front pages by reporting it as new. Like a band aid the propaganda has to be re-applied consistently to remind Americans who their enemy is supposed to be. The mob breaks a few windows downtown to make sure you pay your protection money.

Fox News shows the LA Library Tower being destroyed by aliens in the movie Independence Day as Bush points his finger and justifies spying on Americans by saying a plot was disrupted to attack the building in 2002, a claim that 23 intelligence experts uniformly describe as "shit."

Leaked memos document Bush and Blair discussing a manufactured war provocation, painting a US spy plane in UN colors and goading Saddam to shoot it down.

We are living in an age of universal deception where the symbiosis of fear, Hollywood special effects and paid for fake news amalgamate to make an otherwise phantom menace seem real to those unwilling to scratch beneath the surface.

We have George W. Bush admitting that bin Laden helped him win the election. We have confirmed analysis that proves past alleged bin Laden audiotapes and videotapes are forgeries. We have bin Laden's 9/11 confession tape being mysteriously discovered by US forces in someone's video cabinet in Jalalabad, a city with a population of 250,000. That gives us odds of at least 250,000 to one that US forces would happen to raid that house, find that videotape and find it interesting enough to pop in the VCR.

The tape shows an overweight individual with a fat nose posing as bin Laden.

Are we this stupid? Are the American people this dumb? The uncomfortable truth is that if you wrap a turd in pretty packaging the majority of Americans will gleefully accept the gift.

If you pitch an idea and frame it in the lowest common denominator football mentality, Bush good, bin Laden bad, bin Laden hate Bush, we support Bush, you're not going to have much of a problem convincing a generation that's been spoon fed black and white principles of good guys vs. bad guys on television and Hollywood for decades.

Our intentions can only be to continue to discredit the hoax terror alerts, staged Al-Qaeda arrests and mock bin Laden tapes. Or on the other hand should we be grateful that the puppet masters are limiting themselves to basic psychological operations and have yet to date to stage a false flag terror attack on the scale of 9/11?

Chris, it'd great if the pentagon issue was settled with definitve proof of a plane crashing into the penatgon. I suspect a plane did crash into the pentagon, though I don't spend too much time debating something that can be easily refuted with a video release. The real 911 trouble is for the controlled demolition of WTC 1 WTC 2 and WTC 7. This is the heart of the call to open an independent investigation into 911. It's mind blowing that even when the owner of the WTC complex has admitted to demolishing WTC 7 that we don't have an uproar from the media. It just proves their true colors.

Jane, I want to know about this reported "growing rift" between Cheney and Bush. I wonder if it's bullshit or truth to try to save face for the chimp.

Bush scores lowest approval ratings to date, 34%. Bush doesn't give a rat's ass. He's not up for re-election. He's there to get his business affliates everything he possibly can squeeze out of us proud Americans. The port deal is a prime example.

Did Dick Cheney really shoot bullets? If you believe Cheney about WMD in Iraq and the Iraqis being in the last throes?

Why did the Secret Service act like guards for Cheney? So he could sober up and release a good Public Relations story so morons like Joe Klein would mirror the propaganda.....gimme a break people......Cheney did something but the question was it on purpose? Remember all of Dick's other bold comments which have turned out to be false by Cheney..........like everything the man says.......are falsehoods and lies.

Sorry for posting off-topic... again.

But this is important and I have you to read what I’ve written about Jill Carroll. I think it's vitally important that we put pressure on the State Dept. to use more proactive measures to negotiate for her safe release. I've already gotten several emails from Chrish at Newshounds who's promised to pass this along to Buzzflash and Young Turks. The momentum's just getting started so please let's keep it going before these insurgents finally do lose patience with us.

ASSHOLE! TREASONOUS ASSHOLE!

I do have a dish where I found 2 independent channels. Free speech TV, and Link TV, check it on line. Get away from the phony channel. Faux, CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS Who are controlled by our phonies news,. Let’s demand the truth from our corrupt leaders.

- Was he drunk when he shot him and tried to hide it?

***
Yep, I'm sure of it. But there is a possibility that his defib went off and made him spaz on the trigger while Whittington was huntng on Cheney's left on the firing line. -JW
***

- Did the secret service pressure the sheriff's department into dropping the case?

***
They didn't even have to. The County sheriff's dept is owned by the operators of the 3 or 4 ranches in the county, the Armstrong, Kenedy and King. They are basically a private security force. There are only about 450 people in the whole county and 90% Mexican Americans who work on those ranches. That sheriff does exactly what Ms. Armstrong tells him to do. -JW
***

- Is the lady who reported the incident on the payroll of the Vice Pres's PR department since they are so inept at doing the job?

***

They can't dodge the fact that the Vice-President of the United State got away with shooting someone without so much as a "howdy-do" from the cops.
